"Memorial Bench"
This bench was created in memory of Jonathan Robert Goodwin, a young man whose life, spirit and beauty are represented by the lotus flower. The roots of the lotus live in the dark, murky depths of the water, reminding us that we can never fully see or understand the reality that exists for people beyond what they choose to show us. Yet it is this very darkness that nourishes the lotus and allows this beautiful flower to flourish. The enso circle surrounding the bench represents the wholeness and imperfection of life.
Light and happiness are always balanced by forces we cannot comprehend. Right here and right now, we are invited to embrace all the light and dark elements of the people we love – including ourselves – and remember the fleeting beauty of the lotus flower.
Created with donations from the friends and family of Jon Goodwin.
