Health and Human Services Wall Mural, Broomfield CO
This model of a wall mural was proposed for the waiting room of the Interior Family Services area of the Broomfield Health and Human Services building and reflects the insight that I received during my own challenges in creating change.
The vast landscapes found in Broomfield County would be represented in the scene by the sheer width of the piece, drawing your eye from one side of the room to the other, conveying the solitary nature that a person faces when trying to change. The scene would be set in the winter and a single set of foot prints in the snow would lead off into the distance representing the journey towards change itself. The footsteps would begin in the foreground inviting the viewer into the piece and onto the journey. There would be a leafless tree in the foreground representing humility. It has been my observation that a tree drops its leaves in the fall and stands bare in humility during the winter, building up its inner strength so that it may experience change in the form of new growth in the spring. Humility is where change begins and so the footsteps start at the tree and move off into the distance. This “movement” represents another key part of change which is action. Combining action and humility will enable change.
20' long X 4" wide X 5' tall. Integrally colored concrete, steel with patina and wood.
